[Solution] This host supports Intel VT-x, but Inter VT-x is disabled.

 

When installing Windows 64-bit version (x64) from VMWare, the following error may appear.

 

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems.
However, 64-bit operation is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT-x, but Inter VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable “trusted execution”.

(2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Workstation.

(4) Update the host’s BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

 

In most cases, errors occur for the following reasons:

 

1) The Intel Virtualization Technology feature is set to 'Disabled' in the BIOS.
2) The BIOS is outdated and the Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) feature is not available.
3) Your CPU does not support Virtualization Technology.

Reason 1)

In this case, the solution is simple. Once you have entered the BIOS Setup screen, in most cases you can press the F10 or DEL keys as soon as you turn on the computer. In the BIOS menu, look for the VT Enable menu, and if it is Disabled, change it to Enable.

 

Reason 2)

On older PCs, the VT menu itself may not exist in earlier BIOS versions. In this case, you should download the latest BIOS image from the motherboard manufacturer's homepage and update first. Update methods vary depending on the manufacturer, so please be sure to know the update method for your model first. Also, you need to change the BIOS settings to enable the VT-x.

 

Reason 3)

In this case, the CPU does not support Virtualization Technology.
